Johannes Vermeer in 5 stops

The most famous girl in Delft history is of course ‘The Girl with a Pearl Earring’ painted by the Dutch master Johannes Vermeer. The 17th-century 'Master of Light' lived and worked in Delft his whole life. His paintings are now on display in galleries and museums throughout the world, but only in Delft can you admire his complete oeuvre. You will find everything you want to know about his life and work in Delft. Wouldn't that be an awesome break during your event in Delft?

In just 5 stops you can go on an unforgettable journey of discovery through the world of the ‘Sphinx of Delft’.

There are several (historical) walks possible in Delft. Inquire about the possibilities.

Workshop Royal Delft

Royal Delft (The Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles) is the only remaining factory of ± 32 earthenware factories that were established in Delft in the 17th century. Here, the world famous Delft Blue is still entirely hand-painted according to age-old traditions. Nowadays Royal Delft is not only a factory for Delft Blue and a knowledge institute for pottery, but also a museum.

Would you like to experience Delftblue paintwork yourself? Register your guests - except for the Royal Delft Experience - for a workshop painting. You can paint your own tile (13x13 cm) or plate (18 cm diameter) during a creative workshop.

There are various workshops and tours that can be booked at Royal Delft.

Dive into the science of microbiology

Antoni van Leeuwenhoek was born in 1632 in Delft, where he spent his entire life living and working. He became interested in astronomy, maths, physics, and chemistry at an early age. Antoni is known for discovering most of the micro-organisms we know today (except fungi and viruses). He made his discoveries using a microscope of his own design and make; his invention remains the basis of the microscopes we still use today.

For events in the field of biotechnology and/or microbiology, people often look for an activity with a link to the field of study for relaxation. With specially tailored and guided tours, you will visit iconic locations related to the life and work of Antoni van Leeuwenhoek. This can also be done through one of our regular city walks if the guided tour is not an option.

Rondvaart Delft

The best way to discover historical Delft is from the centuries-old canals. For almost 50 years, Rondvaart Delft has been sailing in the canals, along all the historical sights and bridges. The fleet currently consists of 4 canal cruiser boats, which also include one electric boat, this boat called “Willem de Zwijger” (William the Silent), is the first electric canal cruise boat in the Netherlands. The boats are custom-made for the canals of Delft, which makes them suitable for all weather conditions and they are equipped with a full-length takeoff roof.
